Race Clark and Zac Flamig were invited to teach a two-day (22-23 September) EF5 training course at the Second Workshop on Geospatial Information in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico, hosted by the Center for Global Change and Sustainability in the Southeast (CCGSS) and located at the Juárez Autonomous University of Tabasco (UJAT). The overall workshop was intended to tackle challenges in global climate change and sustainability. Clark and Flamig were invited as instructors after an employee of the Mexican Space Agency completed the May 2015 EF5 course in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico and felt that EF5 would be a good fit for the workshop at UJAT.
The twelve attendees of the Villahermosa course came from across Mexico and the region and specialized in the environmental sciences, geographic information system (GIS) techniques, and other related fields. This is the third international EF5 training course to be taught so far in 2015. At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees received access to newly-completed filmed versions of portions of the EF5 training course. Travel support was provided by CCGSS and the workshop organizers. The EF5 team looks forward to continuing our very fruitful collaborations with the Mexican research community!
